Job Description & How to Apply Below
Electronics Manufacturing Test Engineer
Based in Bolton
Salary up to £45,000
A new team is being built here, and you would be one of the first into it. The job is straightforward to describe and genuinely interesting to do, find faults on circuit card assemblies fast, and fix the test packages so they do not happen again.
You will work on a SPEA 4050S2 flying probe system, building new test packages from the initial data pack through to a robust, deployable package the manufacturing floor can run with confidence. When products change, you will update and improve what already exists, digging into statistical test data to lift yield and cut test time.
There is a diagnostic side too. Working alongside the wider test engineering team, you will trace faults down to component level on analogue and digital PCBs, using oscilloscopes, multimeters and signal generators as standard kit.
Flying Probe experience is a bonus, not a requirement. What matters more is a background in electronics, a methodical approach to fault finding, and the patience to get a test package right rather than just working.
This is largely an on-site role, four to five days a week, because the equipment lives on-site. Worth knowing before you apply.
Please note, this role requires sole British citizenship for security clearance to be considered.
What you will need:
* A background in Electronic Engineering, apprenticeship or degree route
* A Formal Engineering/Craft Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3, TR23 or TR21, plus a Level 4 qualification (HNC or equivalent), or a BEng/BSc in a relevant engineering discipline
* Solid understanding of electrical/electronic measurement, test principles and fault diagnosis on PCBs and sub-assemblies
* Hands-on experience with manual and automated test equipment, ideally in a defence or other high-reliability manufacturing environment
* Ability to read schematics, drawings and test documentation
* Sole British citizenship, with eligibility for security clearance
Desirable:
* Flying Probe experience, SPEA systems specifically
* Experience writing operator instructions or engineering manuals
You would be reporting into an established test engineering function while helping shape a brand new one, with full training provided
