As a housing association, we're committed to providing safe, affordable and sustainable homes for our customers, and as a Retrofit Designer, you'll play a key role in helping us achieve this. Working within a newly established team, you'll design energy efficiency improvements that enhance the quality, sustainability and performance of our homes.

You'll develop practical and compliant retrofit solutions, working closely with colleagues and contractors to ensure projects deliver positive outcomes for both customers and homes. This is an opportunity to apply your technical expertise to support our investment programmes, improve the energy performance of our housing stock and help deliver our long-term decarbonisation ambitions.

Key Responsibilities Develop and coordinate retrofit designs for a range of properties and retrofit measures, ensuring solutions are practical, compliant and suitable for the property type. Review retrofit assessments, property information, energy data and occupancy information to inform design decisions and recommendations. Produce and review technical drawings, specifications, schedules of work and supporting design information required for project delivery. Identify and manage technical, compliance and building performance risks, ensuring potential issues are addressed at an early stage.

Apply whole-house retrofit principles, considering factors such as ventilation, moisture management, thermal performance and resident impact. Provide technical advice and support to colleagues, contractors and stakeholders throughout the design and delivery process. Maintain accurate design records and support quality assurance, continuous improvement and the successful delivery of retrofit programmes. What you'll need to succeed A relevant retrofit, building surveying, architecture, architectural technology, construction or related qualification, or equivalent technical experience.

Experience preparing or reviewing technical designs, specifications, schedules of work or design information for residential property projects. Knowledge of domestic construction, building fabric, ventilation, moisture risk, thermal performance and energy efficiency improvements. An understanding of PAS 2035 requirements and the relationship between retrofit assessment, design, coordination and installation. The ability to identify technical risks, challenge unsuitable proposals and develop practical, value-for-money solutions.

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to a range of audiences. Experience using design software such as AutoCAD, alongside strong organisational and digital skills.
