Overview

Our Commercial Delegated Authority Partnership (DAP) team is looking to enhance the team and offers an opportunity to join as a Delegated Authority Financial Lines Underwriter. Reporting to the Trading Team Manager, you’ll gain exposure to the Commercial market and develop key technical skills under the guidance of a specialist and supportive team.

Driving excellent service to our Delegated Authority partners and delivering the basics well, you’ll have a desire for continued learning and personal development. By working as part of the DAP team, you’ll contribute to profitability, income and regulatory compliance, while gaining an understanding of this specialist team and its role within AXA.

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You’ll work at least two days per week (40%) away from home, with the plan to move to three days per week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.

What you’ll be doing
  • Be personally responsible for portfolio management for a panel of DA partners, underwriting in line with our growth and profitability targets.
  • Obtain a good understanding and application of our conduct framework and underwriting controls.
  • Attend regular underwriting and quarterly meetings to discuss scheme performance.
  • Build your internal underwriting network.
  • Support growth, profitability and conduct compliance for your DAs.
  • Own your personal development and work with senior underwriters to increase personal empowerment levels whilst identifying areas for continuous improvement and drive change through to resolution.
  • Build excellent relationships and provide outstanding service to our DA partners including offering support on any referred cases.
What you’ll bring
  • Sound understanding of the commercial insurance market and processes, including legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of commercial lines products - Financial Lines is preferred but not essential.
  • Exposure and experience of delivering a great customer experience.
  • Strong trading capability, negotiation skills and ability to build effective partnering relationships.
  • Pragmatic and confident decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good analytical and numerical reasoning skills with ability to manipulate and interpret data.
  • Cert CII is desirable along with a commitment to obtaining Dip CII.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.

This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
