Job Description

Working remotely as a Healthy Lifestyle Advisor on ABLs Central Online Weight Management Service, you will support, motivate, and advise adults and/or families who are overweight or obese. You will play a vital role in helping people start the life‑changing processes necessary for sustainable weight loss and long‑term wellbeing with a particular focus on promoting physical activity as a key component of healthy lifestyle change.

You will join a large, experienced, and passionate team of behaviour change specialists at ABL Health, including Healthy Lifestyle Advisors, nutritionists, dietitians, GPs, psychotherapists, and exercise specialists. Together, we deliver evidence‑based, realistic, and holistic weight management programmes designed to support communities across the region.

You will understand the diverse challenges and barriers adults face relating to both physical and mental health, and you’ll be able to build strong rapport with clients from a wide range of backgrounds. As a remote member of the team, you will use a variety of digital platforms to engage clients and deliver effective, impactful support from a distance.

You will deliver our existing programmes of weight management as well as supporting the development of new nutrition and exercise programmes that meet the needs of our clients. The ideal candidate will be passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles and delivering motivational change which is client centered. You will have a background in nutrition, exercise, public health, community health or adult and/or family weight management and be an excellent team player with a willingness to learn and develop.

At ABL Health we don’t believe in diets but promote long‑term sustainable change which focuses on evidence‑based principles of healthy living.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver ABL Health’s adult and family weight management programmes through online group sessions and one‑to‑one support, with a strong emphasis on physical activity alongside nutrition and behaviour change.
  • Lead and contribute to multi‑disciplinary assessments, working closely with GPs and psychotherapists to create tailored, person‑centred care plans.
  • Deliver evidence‑based education around physical activity, nutrition, and behavioural change, aligned with ABL’s programme curriculums.
  • Deliver programmes with a client‑centred approach using skills of positive psychology and motivational interviewing.
  • Monitor clients’ progress through regular consultation and use of Microsoft Excel, identifying specific treatment for those not on track to achieve their goals.
  • Assess and support eligible clients in your caseload to receive a referral to tier 4 for bariatric surgery, remaining up to date with NICE guidance at all times.
  • Work with clients and stakeholders to co‑produce in‑session materials.
  • Contribute to the contract performance report by submitting regular case studies to the project lead.
  • Contribute to and support ABL Health’s social media pages.
  • Contribute to training and support new staff and volunteers.
