We are seeking a Infrastructure Automation Engineer to join our team.

In this role you will develop, implement and maintain automation solutions across the College's IT infrastructure, helping to reduce manual processes, improve service reliability and support compliance requirements. You will work closely with the IT Operations Manager and infrastructure teams to identify opportunities for automation and deliver scripts, tools and workflows that enhance operational efficiency. You will also provide 3rd line technical expertise, supporting the effective management and continuous improvement of the College's IT systems and infrastructure.

About the role:

In this role, you will act as a 3rd line escalation point for complex incidents, problems and service requests, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to teaching and business operations. You will design, develop and maintain automation solutions to reduce manual processes across IT systems, infrastructure and user services. You will proactively identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency by analysing service desk trends, recurring issues and workflows, implementing automated rules and integrations where appropriate.

You will develop intelligent automation solutions for network infrastructure, including self-healing capabilities, automated remediation of common issues and integration with monitoring platforms. You will develop and maintain Power Shell scripts to support Microsoft infrastructure automation, including Active Directory, Exchange, Azure/Entra , Intune and Microsoft 365 environments. You will also create automation scripts for network device configuration and management, alongside developing infrastructure monitoring and alerting solutions.

In addition, you will contribute to and support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management practices to improve consistency, scalability and reliability across the College's IT infrastructure. Essential

Experience:

Proven experience in Power Shell scripting, supported by a demonstrable portfolio. Experience automating Microsoft infrastructure, including Active Directory, Exchange, Azure/Entra , Intune and Microsoft 365. Experience administering ITSM platforms and developing workflows within systems such as HaloPSA, Service Now, Jira Service Management or similar platforms. Experience working with REST APIs and system integrations.

Experience of network automation using Python, Ansible or API-based configuration methods. Experience supporting enterprise systems and services in a 3rd line technical support capacity. Essential
