Lead Buyer - Information Technology

We have supported the Armed Forces for over 70 years, designing future concepts for the British Army, managing missile component procurement, and integrating advanced software into the newest fighter jets.

• Lead all aspects of IT spend across the Group, including Enterprise, Engineering, Manufacturing, SaaS, Services, Cyber, Networks, Hardware, Security, AI and High Performance Computing.
• Specialise in one area or develop expertise in new areas, broadening knowledge over time.
• Own and run large procurement projects to support Category Managers.
• Travel and work internationally in the UK, Germany, Italy, or Paris, with quarterly meetings at those sites.
• Build and maintain internal and international stakeholder relationships.
• Use strong communication and negotiation skills to achieve the best value for the Group.
• Adapt to dynamic and changing procurement priorities.

• Experienced IT procurement professional or an established Indirect Buyer ready to move into IT procurement.
• Good procurement knowledge in other Indirect categories and a willingness to learn IT procurement.
• Strong soft and communication skills.
• Comfortable working in an international context.
• Ability to own and run large procurement projects.
• Working towards or a qualified MCIPS professional is preferred; routes to MCIPS qualification are offered.
• British citizenship or dual UK nationality required for security clearance.

• Salary:
  Circa £45,000–£55,000, depending on experience.
• Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2–3 days per week on-site due to workload classification.
• All successful candidates will undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS) managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.
• Travel to stakeholder or supplier meetings across the Group’s sites.
