School Site Manager

Location: Bolton, Greater Manchester

Start Date: As soon as possible

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent / Long-term contract

Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and multi-skilled School Site Manager to take compliance, safety, and smooth day-to-day operation of a thriving secondary school campus in Bolton.

This is a hands‑on, vital role within the school community, ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining an exceptional environment for students and staff. Because the school needs to ensure operational continuity, we are looking for someone who can hit the ground running as soon as possible
.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilities & Maintenance: Oversee the security, care, and general upkeep of the school buildings and grounds, including carrying out first‑line maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Health & Safety: Maintain rigorous health and safety standards, managing compliance records, fire safety checks, water testing, and risk assessments.
  • Contractor Management: Serve as the main point of contact for external contractors, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
  • Team Leadership: Support and manage the site/cleaning teams to ensure the campus remains pristine and welcoming.
  • Security: Act as a primary keyholder, managing the opening and closing of the school, as well as responding to out-of-hours emergencies if required.
What We Are Looking For:
  • Proven experience in site management, facilities maintenance, or a skilled trade (experience within an educational setting is highly desirable but not essential).
  • Strong working knowledge of health and safety legislation, COSHH, and building compliance.
  • A proactive problem‑solver who can manage a varied workload and respond calmly to shifting priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with school leadership, staff, and external visitors.
  • A commitment to safeguarding; the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
