Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is seeking an experienced Digital Communications Engineer to join its Digital Team and help deliver and support the communications technologies that underpin critical services across the organisation.

In this role, you will be responsible for the management, support, and development of a range of digital communications platforms and infrastructure, including Cisco Unified Communications, Telephony, Contact Centre Technologies, Mobile Devices, Radio Systems, and Audio-Visual Solutions. You will lead on the implementation of reliable, resilient, and secure communication services, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and support projects that improve operational efficiency and user experience.

Joining an award-winning Digital, Data and Technology service, you will work alongside technical specialists and business stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions that support the organisation's strategic objectives and the ongoing transformation of public services across Greater Manchester.

• Support the delivery of high quality radio and voice communications by applying specialist technical skills in the primary area of focus.
• Support the delivery of new voice solutions by applying specialist technical skills, contributing to solution design and implementation to meet organisational requirements.
• Liaising with suppliers, contractors, service providers, regulators, and other external agencies to coordinate implementations and maintenance of new, and existing, radio and voice infrastructure.
• Support radio and voice projects by applying specialist technical skills and providing technical input as required.
• Support the performance and reliability of existing radio and voice infrastructure through proactive monitoring and technical input.
• Support the response to incidents and security alerts from multiple sources, applying specialist technical skills in line with SLAs and risk.
• Support the creation and maintenance of systems documentation by contributing detailed technical content to relevant knowledge bases.
• Assist in testing of Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity procedures.
• Support knowledge transfer and technical mentoring across first, second, and thirdline support teams.
• Support engagement with internal and external stakeholders to identify technical requirements and provide technical guidance to nontechnical users.
• Support operational and tactical commanders in managing communications during both pre-planned events and spontaneous incidents as Airwave Tactical Advisor

• Educated to degree level in relevant area or equivalent
• Relevant professional qualification, membership of a relevant professional body.
• Evidence of continuous professional development
• ITIL Intermediate - Capability or Lifecycle Certificate relevant to the area of expertise
• Technical experience across a range of solutions and platforms in the Local Government arena.
• Working knowledge of project management methodologies and an ability to apply these in practice, and experience of successfully managing complex projects from inception to completion.
• Experience of analysing and interpreting complex information and communicating it appropriately to a range of stakeholders.
• Knowledge of project management principles
• Demonstrable experience of successful project management of a new technology system or a major upgrade of a corporate system impacting on a wide number of users across the Service
