Middlemore are partnering with a leading energy and utilities organisation to appoint a Head of Communications
.
This is a high-profile opportunity for an experienced communications leader to shape external reputation, lead engaging internal transformation communications, and act as a trusted adviser to senior executives.
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Affairs, you will lead a small internal communications team and work as part of an integrated function across policy, regulatory affairs, marketing and communications.
Our client is entering an exciting period of growth and transformation. Key priorities include increasing smart-meter adoption, supporting consumer affordability and vulnerability, enabling access to low-carbon technology, launching new products and services, and transforming field-force operations through technology.
Key responsibilities- Lead external and internal communications in support of corporate strategy and transformation.
- Build a strong profile across traditional, broadcast, digital and social media.
- Deliver campaigns on strategic customer, energy-transition and ESG issues.
- Create internal communications that build understanding, engagement and adoption through change.
- Partner with Executive Leadership Team members and senior operational leaders on major programmes, partnerships and business priorities.
- Provide trusted, practical communications counsel to senior stakeholders.
- Mentor and develop the internal communications team.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across Corporate Affairs, policy, regulatory and marketing.
You will bring strong communications experience from energy, utilities or another regulated, customer-facing infrastructure environment. Experience supporting a large operational or field-based workforce would be particularly valuable.
You will be equally comfortable developing strategy and delivering it personally, writing compelling content, shaping messages, handling media opportunities and leading campaigns. You will have a credible track record across both external communications and internal transformation, alongside the gravitas and collaborative style to build trusted senior relationships quickly.
There is a preference for candidates based in the North West, although exceptional candidates willing to travel regularly will be considered.
