Nursing Associate for Children and young People's Community Nursing Team. The Nursing Associate will support service delivery with responsive nursing skills for the patients under the care of the Nursing team to promote hospital admission and care closer to home.
Main duties of the jobDeliver nursing interventions at home and in clinic settings for CYP within the Bolton area
Working within the scope of NMC Standards of Care to deliver compassionate, safe effective care and support to Children and Young People (CYP) and care providers.
To safely undertake the following procedures to meet the patient's nursing needs, these include; undertaking routine procedures including venepuncture, recording and interpreting vital signs, pressure area care, wound care, NG tube and gastrostomy care. Identify and report any changes in patient's condition to a registered nurse.
Work responsively to meet the needs of the CYP to prevent hospital admission, offering care closer to home.
Job responsibilities1. Work within the scope of NMC Standards of Care to deliver compassionate, safe effective care and support to Children and Young People (CYP) and care providers.
2. Act as the CYPs advocate to promote and deliver the highest standard of care, ensuring all fundamentals of care are addressed, and current, relevant policies and procedures are adhered to
3. Proactively safeguard the welfare of all CYP and adults and actively adhere to safeguarding procedures and policies. Undertake Level 3 Childrens Safeguarding Training.
4. To safely undertake the following procedures to meet the patients nursing needs which include; undertaking routine procedures including venepuncture, recording and interpreting vital signs, pressure area care, wound care, NG tube and gastrostomy care. Identify and report any changes in patients condition to a registered nurse.
5. Work responsively to meet the needs of the CYP to prevent hospital admission, offering care closer to home.
6. Autonomous working in the community to deliver nursing Interventions in CYP's homes and in local Health Centres.
Person Specification Qualification- Registered Nursing Associate
- Experience of working in teams under supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to deliver clinical care using appropriate medical devices
- Ability to deliver clinical care
- Willingness to expand clinical role
- Insight into how to evaluate own strength and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate.
- Practice with medical devices and equipment relevant for CYP in the community.
- Experience of working in Community
- Delivering clinical skills
- Working with Children's Complex Care
- Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload.
- Ability to deal with Non-routine and unpredictable nature of workload and individual patient contact.
- Ability to support, supervise, assess and act as a role model to nursing associate students, other learners and Health Care Support workers.
- Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal and non-verbal communication) with patients, families and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Clinical skills to deliver responsive nursing interventions such as NGT and Gastrostomy care.
- Venepuncture trained.
- Understanding of the scope of the role of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation and how the role may contribute to service development.
- Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained with the code.
- Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice.
- Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans
- Good IT Skills
- Knowledge around Children and young people and CYP with complex health needs.
- Hold a full Uk driving licence
- Ability to work across different community settings
- Ability to travel across the Bolton locality idenpendantly.
- Flexibility in working hours to meet the needs of service
