Yard Operative/Handyperson – Wernick Hire

Role Overview: Step into a vital role where your hands‑on skills make a real impact. As a Yard Operative, you’ll be instrumental in the maintenance, repair, and preparation of our modular buildings and site accommodation units. Your dedication to efficiency and safety will ensure that every task is performed to the highest standards, driving the success of our depot and contributing to our overall excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and Upkeep:
    Clean, paint, and perform general maintenance on cabins and buildings as directed.
  • Servicing:
    Service mobile welfare units to ensure they’re in top condition.
  • Repairs:
    Conduct site visits to carry out necessary repairs promptly.
  • Furniture Management:
    Check and store furniture returned to the yard, ensuring it’s properly removed from cabins and placed back in storage.
  • Forklift Maintenance:
    Keep the forklift truck in excellent working order.
  • Efficiency:
    Minimise material wastage and assist with the safe loading and unloading of cabins, buildings, and materials.
  • Housekeeping:
    Maintain a clean and organised yard and workshop at all times.
  • Safety Compliance:
    Adhere to current health and safety legislation to ensure a safe working environment.

    Experience in plumbing, joinery, or electrical work is highly beneficial.
