Skilled Civils Highway Maintenance Operative
Location: Bonnyrigg
Contract: Full Time, Permanent, 40 hours per week
Additional Requirements: Night shift, Overtime & Standby Rota
BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of highway maintenance services across Scotland. We manage andmaintainover 2,000km of Scotland’s trunk road network, tacklingjust about everyimaginable task and working round the clock to help keep Scotland moving.
The South East Trunk Road Unit spans 506km through some of the busiest sections of the country, from central Scotland to through the Scottish Borders. Trunk roads in the South Eastrange from the major multi-lane motorways across the central belt to roads through villages in the borders.
We are currently seeking a Skilled Civils Road worker to join our team in Bonnyrigg. This is a hands-on role working across a variety of highways, drainage, and civil engineering projects. It offersa great opportunity for a reliable and motivated individual looking for long-term career stability and development.
This role is ideal for experienced road workers who are ready to take the next step in their career. It will also suit individuals who are already comfortable supervising small teams on site and are looking to join a company that actively encourages growth and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out road construction and resurfacing works
- Install kerbing, paving, and drainage systems
- Undertake excavation and general groundwork duties
- Operate hand tools and small plant machinery safely
- Support traffic management and site setup
- Assist with general civil engineering tasks as required
- Maintain high standards of health & safety at all times
Requirements
- Previous experience in civils, roadworks, or groundworks (essential)
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- CPCS or NPORS plant tickets (desirable)
Standby Requirement
Applicants must be able to reach the Bonnyriggdepot within 30 minutes when on standby rota.
