Salary Range: $28.03 - $38.75 per hour plus shift differential and PRN premium based on experience.
Education: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree from an ARRT approved/accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
Certificates/License: Valid, current State of Iowa Permit to Practice, ARRT registration, and BCLS certification.
Experience: Hospital-based experience preferred; CT experience required. Willingness to train the right candidate.
Operates radiologic equipment to produce radiographs (x‑rays) for diagnostic purposes as directed by the Radiologist. Moves equipment to specified positions, adjusts exposure factors, explains procedures to patients, monitors accessory equipment, and assists in special radiographic procedures. Performs duties in orthopedic, pediatric, trauma, and diagnostic radiology. Must be willing to learn CT within 6 months and be able to staff the department independently.
Duties- Demonstrates knowledge and skills to assist care for patients from neonate to geriatric.
- Maintains performance in compliance with state and federal laws and hospital policies.
- Practices ALARA techniques and good quality control.
- Performs all types of CT exams proficiently.
- Uses contrast power injector.
- Charges imaging procedures and modifies orders as needed.
- Understands and uses PACS systems.
- Assists in developing new protocols and imaging techniques.
- Matches appropriate paperwork for interpretation.
- Conducts scheduling and coordination of patient flow for work area or shift.
- Provides education and training to affiliated radiology technology student programs.
- Assists with patient transportation as necessary.
- Maintains effective communication with all levels of supervision and staff.
- Participates in staff meetings and in‑services as required.
- Is willing to take extra shifts, including nights, holidays, and weekends, and works 1 or 2 assigned holidays (8‑hour shifts).
This position requires the ability to move around the facility, handle equipment, bend, reach, lift, push, pull, walk, stand, crouch, twist, and turn while assisting in patient care. Verbal and auditory acuity for telephone reporting of patient condition is required. Vision must be correctable to view computer screens and read printed information, including close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment.
Hearing must be normal for telephone contacts and conversations.
