Salary: $36.02 - $48.19 Based on experience.
Education and CertificationsEducation: Successful completion of an AMA approved School of Ultrasound Technology. RVT preferred or willing to obtain within 6 months of employment. Radiologic Technologist RT(R) preferred, but not required.
Certificates/License: ARDMS certification in physics and one specialty within 3 months of employment. We will consider Ultrasound students. Current BCLS certification.
Experience: Ultrasound experience preferred but not required. Registered Radiologic Technologist experience preferred but not required.
Position SummaryTo obtain diagnostic ultrasound images of the human body following McFarland Clinic's protocols, while using diagnostic medical ultrasound equipment. Assist radiologist with procedures. Perform the duties as assigned.
Duties Include But Not Limited To
- Demonstrates knowledge and necessary skills to assist in providing appropriate care to the ages of the patient served (prenatal – geriatric) within the department (refer to the Scope of Practice and Staffing Guidelines in the department Plan of Care).
- Maintains performance in compliance with State and Federal laws and is consistent with high standards of business and professional ethics. Understands and abides by the Boone County Hospital Standards of Behavior, confidentiality statement, EMTALA guidelines, general hospital and department policies and procedures.
- Utilize ultrasound equipment to obtain optimum images as ordered by the physician and to assist radiologists with procedures.
- Operate the ultrasound equipment within the appropriate mechanical settings, thus producing the lowest possible biological effects.
- Practice good quality control and cleaning maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer.
- Communicates in a clear, concise and credible manner. Maintains a high level of professionalism when interacting with staff, peers, clients and administration.
- Assist the medical staff in the development of new ultrasound techniques and protocols.
- Operate department and hospital computer systems.
- Perform additional tasks, special functions and/or special projects as assigned.
This position requires the ability to move about the facility in the care of patients and moving of equipment. Must be able to bend to the floor and reach overhead, balance, climb, lift, push, pull, walk, stand, crouch, twist and turn while obtaining equipment and supplies or in assisting in patient cares involving walking or positioning. Verbal and auditory acuity sufficient for over the telephone reporting of patient condition reports, hearing patients' verbal requests and auditory equipment alarms.
Vision must be correctable to view computer screens and read printed information. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to demonstrate an ability to hear and communicate on telephones within the department and converse with staff and patients.
