- Status: Full‑Time, 40 Hours per Week plus Call Hours
- Shift: Day – 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. plus Call Hours
- Days: Monday through Friday plus Call Hours
- Salary Scale: $31.68 – $43.96 per hour

The RN‑Surgical Services nurse shares the responsibility with other health‑care team members to provide patient‑centered care. Responsibilities include knowledge of aseptic technique, basic operative procedures, and instrumentation. The RN also performs tasks that extend beyond patient care to support efficient organization and management of the operating room, including admitting and discharging patients, PACU coordination, and circulator/endoscopy duties.
Education / Qualifications Required• Current RN license in the State of Iowa
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Mandatory Reporter status
- 1 year of registered‑nurse experience in multiple specialties (preferred but not required)
- Experience in an operating room or ambulatory surgery setting (preferred but not required)
- Perform circulator responsibilities per unit standards for all assigned procedures
- Demonstrate knowledge of table set‑ups, instrumentation, and surgeon preference cards for all cases
- Track all needles, sponges, and instrumentation
- Assist the scrub nurse with delegated tasks
- Identify patient problems and report to physicians and other O.R. team members
- Identify learning needs and pursue appropriate educational programs
- Participate in unit‑based plans for orientation of new employees
- Utilize resources appropriately and identify opportunities for cost containment
- Serve on committees or perform special projects as needed
- Perform other duties of a related nature as required
- Maintain competency through educational opportunities and annual skills assessment
- Serve as a member of a call team for after‑hour procedures
Eye protection, face shield, and various PPE per hospital policy.
Working ConditionsChemical‑resistant scrubs. Wet/humid environment, exposure to chemicals, typical noise levels for hearing, and exposure to unpleasant sights, smells, and potential infections.
Sensory RequirementsHearing, vision, color vision, the ability to engage in ordinary conversation, and the ability to hear alarms, radio/phone, and instructions from others.
