The Registered Nurse (RN) in a Long-Term Care setting provides comprehensive nursing care to residents with chronic and long-term medical needs. The RN is responsible for assessing resident conditions, developing and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications and treatments, and ensuring accurate clinical documentation. The RN supervises and supports LPNs and CNAs, collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, and coordinates resident care to promote safety, comfort, and quality of life.
Responsibilities also include monitoring changes in condition, participating in care conferences, supporting infection control and safety initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, and assisting with admissions, discharges, and family communication.
