We are seeking a passionate and skilled Deaf Education Instructor (DEI) to join our team, supporting deaf children, young people, and their families. This role promotes inclusive practice, improves outcomes, and develops communication through British Sign Language (BSL). You will provide highly specialised, practical support, including facilitating language development, reinforcing curriculum access through BSL, and empowering families to build communication skills so deaf children are fully included in both school and home life.
You will work under the direction of the Deaf Resource Base Lead Teacher, delivering high-quality BSL support, Deaf Awareness training, and collaborating with schools and families. You will help break down barriers, promote understanding of deafness, and ensure deaf learners thrive academically and socially.
- Provide highly specialised, practical support to deaf children and young people and their families
- Facilitate language development and reinforce curriculum access through British Sign Language (BSL)
- Deliver high-quality BSL support and Deaf Awareness training
- Collaborate with schools, families, and the Deaf Resource Base Lead Teacher to support inclusive education
- Promote understanding of deafness and support positive academic and social outcomes for deaf learners
- At least 27 days holiday, plus bank holidays rising to 32 after 5 years’ service (pro rata if part time) - option to purchase further days
