DescriptionDirector of English, Maths and ESOL at Hugh Baird College, Bootle, Liverpool, full‑time permanent. 50 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays. £54,571 – £56,911 per annum, Teachers’ Pension Scheme and access to Medicash and other staff benefits.
As a director you will shape and lead the college’s English, Maths and ESOL provision, driving educational excellence and ensuring outstanding outcomes for learners of all ages.
Reporting to the Vice Principal Academic Skills & Quality, you will play a pivotal role in curriculum development, embedding innovation, and delivering a high‑quality learning experience that enables students to achieve their full potential.
About the RoleAs Director of English, Maths & ESOL you will provide leadership across the College’s English, Maths and ESOL provision, ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning, assessment and student achievement.
You will:
- Lead curriculum development and innovation across English, Maths and ESOL.
- Drive improvements in attendance, achievement, high grades, progression and overall student success.
- Lead and develop a team of Heads of Department and curriculum staff, creating a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement.
- Champion quality assurance and quality improvement strategies that deliver measurable impact.
- Use performance intelligence and data to inform decision‑making and drive sustained improvement.
- Build partnerships and develop innovative approaches that enhance teaching, learning and student outcomes.
You will be an experienced and credible educational leader with a proven track record of delivering excellence.
You will bring:
- Significant experience of curriculum leadership and development.
- A strong history of leading teams to achieve outstanding performance and student outcomes.
- Extensive knowledge of quality assurance, quality improvement and curriculum innovation.
- Experience of successfully managing change and driving improvement across a large curriculum area.
- Outstanding leadership, communication and people management skills.
- A passion for transforming lives through education and creating opportunities for all learners to succeed.
