Psychology Graduate - KS1 Learning Support Assistant Role Overview

Are you a Psychology Graduate with a strong interest in early child development
? Are you looking to gain handson experience supporting young children's learning, emotional wellbeing, and social development in a KS1 setting
?

Milk Education is recruiting Psychology Graduates to work as KS1 Setting in mainstream primary schools across Liverpool. This role is ideal for graduates considering future careers in Educational Psychology, Child Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, or Occupational Therapy
.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to children in KS1
  • Support pupils with additional needs
    , including early developmental delays, SEND, SEMH, and speech & language needs
  • Assist children with emotional regulation, social skills, and daily routines
  • Encourage engagement through playbased and structured learning activities
  • Support the delivery of phonics, early literacy, numeracy, and fine motor activities
  • Promote positive behaviour, independence, and confidence
  • Observe, monitor, and record progress in line with the KS1 Framework
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, KS1 staff, and the SENCO
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
What We're Looking For
  • A degree in Psychology or a related subject (essential)
  • A strong interest in early years development and child psychology
  • Experience working with children (nurseries, schools, clubs, or care settings) - desirable but not essential
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and observation skills
  • Commitment to providing consistent, reliable support
