Are you a passionate Teaching Assistant who enjoys helping young people overcome barriers to learning?

We are working with an Alternative Provision setting to recruit a committed Teaching Assistant to provide general classroom support, working alongside teachers to support students with their learning, engagement and behaviour.

The school supports young people who have been excluded from mainstream education, meaning this is a rewarding but challenging environment where building positive relationships is key.

The Role

As a General Classroom Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher to support students during lessons and group activities.

You will help students to:

Engage with classroom learning
Complete individual and group tasks
Develop confidence and independence
Manage behaviour and emotions
Overcome barriers to learning
Access the curriculum effectively
You will be working with students who may have SEMH needs, challenging behaviour and previous difficulties within mainstream education.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

Has previous experience working with children or young people
Has experience supporting students with SEMH or challenging behaviour, or a genuine passion for developing this experience
Is confident supporting students on a 1:1 and small-group basis
Is calm, patient and resilient
Can build positive and professional relationships with young people
Works well as part of a wider school team
Can maintain clear boundaries while remaining approachable and supportive
Has a genuine desire to help students succeed
Previous experience in Alternative Provision, PRUs, SEN settings, schools, youth work or similar environments would be highly desirable.

Why Apply?

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who wants to work somewhere that focuses on re-engaging young people who have struggled in mainstream education.

You will be joining a supportive team and playing an important role in helping students develop academically, socially and emotionally.

The role is available on a full-year basis, with the potential to become permanent for the right person.
