-year-old students and adult learners. You ll play an important part in helping learners build confidence, improve their English skills and achieve the qualifications they need to progress.
The college is open to applications from candidates looking for either part-time or full-time hours
, making this a flexible opportunity for experienced GCSE English professionals.
The role As a GCSE English Lecturer, you will plan and deliver engaging and inclusive lessons that help learners achieve their potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering GCSE English Language lessons
- Setting, assessing and marking work in line with learners' programmes
- Monitoring student attendance, progress and achievement
- Supporting learners with revision, enrichment and progression
- Maintaining high standards of classroom practice and learner behaviour
- Working closely with curriculum, progress, learning support and careers teams
- Contributing to departmental meetings, open evenings and wider college activities
- Supporting the college's safeguarding, Prevent, equality, health and safety and quality procedures
What we're looking for The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and innovative GCSE English practitioner with a genuine commitment to helping learners progress.
You will ideally have:
- An advanced qualification in English, or an equivalent qualification alongside at least two years' experience teaching GCSE English
- A recognised teaching qualification, or a willingness to undertake one through in-service training
- Previous experience teaching GCSE English programmes
- A strong understanding of the current GCSE English Language curriculum
- Evidence of effective classroom practice and positive learner outcomes
- A Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Numeracy, or willingness to achieve this within two years
- A positive, flexible and adaptable approach
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and learner wellbeing
Knowledge or experience of technology-enhanced learning would also be beneficial.
