An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Domestic Services Team Leader to join our established Estates and Facilities Team here at Southport Hospital
A Domestic Team Leader at Southport Hospital oversees a team of domestic assistants to ensure high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety are maintained throughout the facility.
They are responsible for implementing infection control procedures, managing cleaning schedules (including deep cleaning), ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and managing stock levels.
24 hour per week, various late shifts including weekend on a two week rota.
- To provide a customer focused service
- To organise, develop and improve the Domestic Service throughout the trust
- Responsible for the efficient management of all domestic services
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with all legislation relating to risk management
- To take lead role to ensure the National Specification of Cleanliness are met
- Liaise with the infection control team to help eradicate the risk of HCAI's
- Responsible for ensuring economical uses of all the trusts resources
- Maintain and monitor domestic stock levels to meet the demands of the service
- Distribute, maintain economic and effective use of chemicals and products
- On a weekly basis order cleaning products and equipment via the SBS on-line system
- The completion of SVL's as appropriate
- Arrange cover for staff shortages within the constraints pf the budget as required
- Arrangement of Duty Rotas and immediate response to request for isolation room and deep cleans
- Monitor staff attendance and requirements for additional hours/bank staff
- Dissemination of information to staff e.g. team brief, new work procedures
- Responsible for ensuring total compliance with all trust policies
- To attend training course as required and participate in annual refresher sessions in accordance with the personal development programme
- Conduct personal development reviews within own team using the KSF online
- Conduct job counselling when required
- Take staff through the disciplinary procedure when appropriate
- Manage the sickness / absence process inline with the trust policy
- Involvement in the recruitment, selection and personal development reviews of staff
- To carry out the role of NVQ assessor ensuring candidates achieve their qualification
- To annually train and update staff on the departmental operational and health and safety procedures liaising with monitoring and training officer
- Responsible for planning and booking staff onto trust training sessions e.g. mandatory quality and diversity and completion of staff training record. Ensuring attendance is always fed back to the monitoring and training officer
- Carry out all relevant hand on in house training required for new staff, ensuring that all new staff are fully competent
- Carry out competency reviews with new and existing staff
- Provide effective and motivational leadership to the team
- Provide guidance and knowledge base for new and existing staff
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with facilities management quality standards
- Ensure compliance with all trust quality initiatives and operational policies as appropriate
- Responsible for effective delivery of services to our service users and customers
- Participate in the trusts PEAT inspection programme
- Monitor the cleaning standards using C4C to ensure achievement of National Specification of Cleanliness requirements for the trust
- Ensure appropriate action taken following a Heat inspection as reported by infection control
- Maintain all operational procedures
- Responsible for the safe use of all equipment
- Responsible for ensuring all staff observe legal requirements
- Responsible for ensuring compliance and operational observance of safe working practices, as detailed in all aspects of the risk assessment
- Carry out risk assessments, manual handling assessments and COSHH assessments
- Maintenance of computerised records as appropriate
- Compiling reports, data, on weekly or monthly basis as requested e.g. to feed into the trust's hygiene committee
- Auditing departments and wards in line with the national specification of cleanliness e.g. weekly monitoring in very high-risk areas
- Ensure compliance with and undertake actioned required in the trusts strategic cleaning plan
- Involvement in the review of departmental work instructions and procedures
- Enforce compliance with the waste management policy to meet challenging requirements as segregation requirements increase
- Work with the accommodation department to enable a smooth changeover of tenants within the residential accommodation and assist with day-to-day problems
- Responsible for ensuring domestic staff are fully aware of and comply with hygiene within the trust and attend regular update training with infection control
- To represent the siter services manager as and when required
