Location: Sefton

Overview

Project Officer – Sefton School Streets, England, North West. Salary: £29,835 per annum (pro rata for part‑time).

Contract:

Fixed term until 31/03/2027.

Hours:

22.5 hours per week. Disclosure:
Enhanced DBS Scheme required – the post holder will work with children and young people. Closing date: 11/07/2026.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver behaviour change projects and activities that promote walking, wheeling and cycling within schools and local communities.
  • Build strong, effective relationships with local leaders, authorities and other key stakeholders.
  • Supervise and mentor colleagues and volunteers involved in project delivery.
  • Work directly with schools and local communities across the North and Midlands to transform streets and public spaces into safer, more welcoming environments for active travel.
Qualifications
  • Experience working with children and young people in both school and community settings.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by communities experiencing inequalities.
  • Knowledge of safety management and risk assessment procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and independently.
  • Proven ability to motivate, support and mentor others.
  • Collaborative mindset, able to work well as part of a team and build strong relationships.
  • Ability to promote the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
