Interim Deputy/Assistant Headteacher - Spring Term
A well-established special school in Bordon, Hampshire is seeking an experienced Interim Deputy/Assistant Headteacher to join the senior leadership team initially, for the Spring term (January-Easter). This short-term leadership position will support the school during a period of transition while the current deputy assumes Acting Headship. Pay will be on the teacher/leadership scale, depending on experience.
The RoleThe successful candidate will:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across the school during the interim period.
- Acclimatize quickly to a complex organisational setting and contribute effectively from the outset.
- Oversee high-quality curriculum delivery tailored to pupils with a broad range of SEND needs.
- Support staff in maintaining strong safeguarding, care, behavioural and personalised learning practices.
- Work collaboratively with the Acting Headteacher to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the school.
This specialist provision supports pupils with:
- Moderate to severe and complex learning difficulties.
- Communication needs, including pupils who use alternative or augmentative communication systems.
- Autism spectrum conditions and sensory processing differences.
- Social, emotional and physical needs requiring a nurturing and adaptable approach.
The school is seeking someone who:
- Has substantial experience within a special school or specialist SEND environment.
- Possesses strong curriculum knowledge relevant to special education.
- Can demonstrate resilience, professional confidence and the ability to build relationships rapidly.
- Is organised, reflective and able to lead with clarity and calm authority.
- Is available full-time from January to Easter.
Based in Bordon, the school is accessible from Alton, Farnham, Petersfield and surrounding Hampshire and Surrey areas.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
