The Opportunity
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and large-scale projects from initiation to completion, ensuring successful delivery within scope, budget, and schedule. You will play a key role in managing project teams, coordinating activities, and mitigating risks to achieve project objectives and exceed client expectations.
What You'll Do- Lead the planning and delivery of high-voltage substation projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to specification.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, resources, and risk management plans.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring clear communication throughout project delivery.
- Lead and support multidisciplinary project teams, promoting collaboration and high performance.
- Manage project resources effectively to optimise productivity and delivery outcomes.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety, regulatory, and client requirements.
- Monitor project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and reporting.
- Oversee project progress from design and procurement through construction, testing, and commissioning.
- Deliver regular project updates, reports, and reviews to stakeholders and senior management.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical) or Project Management, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrable experience delivering high-voltage cabling projects, ideally 132kV and above, from design through to commissioning.
- Strong technical knowledge of cabling infrastructure.
- Proven experience managing complex engineering projects and programmes.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining safety, quality, and schedule performance.
- Proficiency with project management and engineering tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, and document control systems.
- Strong understanding of UK utility and transmission standards, including National Grid specifications, DNO/TSO requirements, CDM Regulations, and IEC standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly in complex project environments.
- Strong organisational and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret technical drawings, schedules, cost reports, and risk registers.
