Location: Radlett

The post sits within the operational management structure of A&UC and offers operational leadership to staff within inpatient services in order to create an effective system that supports the delivery of the best possible outcomes for all service users, staff and the public. The post holder has responsibility for the operational management of adult inpatient services across the Trust. The post holder is responsible, with the Service Line lead, for the allocation, deployment, prioritisation and delivery of in-patient services, for implementing and reviewing systems, policies, standards and procedures that ensure the provision of high quality services within frameworks agreed by the Trust.

The post holder will be required to line manage the Band 7 Team Leads on each ward.

  • First or higher degree
  • Professional qualification in relevant area of health or social care
  • Postgraduate qualification or formal management training
  • Membership of professional bodies, Management experience in relevant area of health or social care
  • Demonstrable success in performance management and appraisal with multidisciplinary staff group
  • Demonstrable success at managing change and development
  • Demonstrable success in quality improvement
  • Proven ability in making a significant contribution to the achievement of organisational objectives
  • Proven ability to work flexibly and to tight deadlines
  • Experience of working with Service Users and Carers
  • Experience of work involving Clinical Governance, Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of Department of Health Policy, especially regarding health and social care policies for Mental Health in both primary and secondary and specialist areas
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary and multiagency working
  • Ability to organise and prioritise a complex workload
  • Ability to undertake the financial management of the service with budgetary requirements and departmental objectives
  • Ability to direct and advise front line managers and staff in identifying and taking appropriate action relating to risk assessments, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
