Overview
Parkside Community Primary School, Borehamwood, is a friendly, inclusive and welcoming school at the heart of the community. We are looking to appoint a dedicated and proactive Caretaker/Site Manager to join our team and take responsibility for the upkeep, security and presentation of our school site. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to a safe, well-maintained learning environment and to support pupils, staff and visitors.
The RoleHours:
37 hours per week
Monday 7:30 – 11:00 and 14:30 – 18:00
Tuesday – Friday 7:30 – 11:30 and 14:30 – 18:00
- Maintaining the school buildings and grounds to a high standard.
- Undertaking general repairs, maintenance and decoration.
- Ensuring the security of the site, including opening and closing the school as required.
- Supporting the school s health and safety compliance, including maintaining records and completing routine checks.
- Monitoring and checking deliveries.
- Carrying out a range of cleaning and caretaking duties.
- Liaising with contractors and supporting site projects.
- Responding to occasional out-of-hours emergencies and supporting school lettings arrangements (overtime payable).
The role involves some manual handling and lifting, so applicants should be physically fit and able to work across our spacious school site.

- Can work independently and use their own initiative.
- Has good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Is confident using ICT systems or is willing to learn (full training will be provided).
- Takes pride in their work and has a keen eye for detail.
- Has a flexible and positive approach, coupled with a good sense of humour.
- Enjoys being part of a supportive school community.
Occasional use of a personal vehicle may be required; mileage expenses will be reimbursed.
