The Pump & Engine Mechanic, Borger Refinery will maintain various types of rotating equipment and will be responsible for troubleshooting and repair of various pumps, steam turbines, gear boxes, fans, blowers, mixers, reciprocating engines, and compressors and ensures proper installation of equipment to industry standards at the refinery.
Qualified candidates may include experienced pump mechanics or mechanics in other fields (diesel, aviation, etc.) interested in gaining new skills.
The starting hourly rate ranges from $38.49 to $48.55, depending on skills and experience. Employees have the opportunity to reach the top craft pay of $52.49 per hour within 48 months.

Candidates who receive an offer of employment will then be required to successfully complete a pre-employment due diligence process including background check, hair follicle drug screen, medical, hearing, respiratory and vision exams, and agility testing.
What You’ll Do- Remove, troubleshoot, and repair various types of pumps, steam turbines, gear boxes, fans, blowers, mixers, reciprocating engines, and compressors
- Repair various types of mechanical seals
- Install and adjust packing
- Align equipment to industry standards and use dial indicators or laser alignment equipment
- Use large hydraulic and pneumatic tools
- Operate motorized and manual equipment
- Perform work activities that include pulling, lifting, twisting, and working in confined spaces on elevated platforms requiring fall protection
- Enter and retrieve computer data
- Use fire equipment when necessary along with other general maintenance activities
– Required Qualifications
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Currently hold (and able to maintain) valid driver's license
- Willing and able to perform/comply with the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Work at least an 8-hour shift and up to a 12-hour shift, which includes some weekends, holidays, and nights
- Available for on-call responsibilities
- Work overtime
- Work in enclosed/confined spaces, such as tanks and silos
- Work near large, hot, high-speed machines
- Work around chemicals, including acids and bases
- Work outside in harsh weather conditions
- Climb up to 250 feet in height
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Perform firefighting duties
- Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toe shoes, ear, and eye protection)
- Wear fall protection when working at height and when required by corporate policy, local policy, and/or OSHA regulation
- Maintain your face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
- Evacuate in a safe and timely manner in the event of an emergency
- Work with petroleum products that are under high pressure and high temperature
- Able to read at a level to understand written safety procedures, work procedures, work permits, instruction manuals
- Learn computer software associated with process operations
– Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certification for Pump & Engine Mechanic (or higher) by date of hire strongly preferred
- Associate’s Degree in Industrial Machinery Maintenance
- 2 or more years of experience working with pumps, compressors or engines as a Pump and Engine Mechanic or Compressor Mechanic
- 4 or more years of Military experience working with pumps, compressors, or engines
- 3 or more years of direct experience working in a refinery and/or chemical industry
