JOB SUMMARY

This position directs the work of QC Inspectors involving the evaluation of incoming material/products during the production process. It ensures that QC Inspectors receive continued training as required and assists the Quality Manager in ensuring that all Quality Management System procedures are being followed in the QC Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, ROLES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Practice safe work habits and comply with all quality, safety, health, and environmental policies, procedures, programs and regulations.
  • Supervise hourly QC Inspectors in the performance of their duties.
  • Assign inspection jobs and set job priorities based on daily production objectives.
  • Work closely with all production departments on quality issues and assist in troubleshooting.
  • Read and interpret machine drawings, including complex views and specifications.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Create dimensional inspection plans directly from machine drawings.
  • Measure taper threads using appropriate gauges and standards.
  • Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, CMM, mic trac).
  • Identify deviations from specifications with strong attention to detail.
  • Document inspection results and prepare quality reports.
  • Work with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Perform hardness test parts.
  • Report time against jobs.
  • Report NCRs and assist with investigations and dispositions when necessary.
  • Review Certificates of Conformance, Material Test Reports and other documentation to ensure conformance with quality requirements.
  • Monitor, verify and sign off on job documentation.
  • Perform Final Product Release and application of the API Monogram.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to QC Inspectors to develop continuous quality improvement within the department.
  • Perform other regular duties as assigned or requested.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED, or a minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience with Geometric Dimension & Tolerance inspection; additional desired skill with CMM, Faro, Calypso/CAM2 or other CMM experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • None required.
  • ASNT Level II MT and PT considered additional desired skill.
  • AWS CWI considered additional desired skill.
  • Completion of API Q-1 Training.
  • Completion of other training as directed by company.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
  • Proficient with precision measuring instruments.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong math skill and proficient reading.
  • Knowledge of CWH Quality Management System.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Daily direct supervision of 4 or more Quality Control Inspectors. Conduct daily meetings, coordination and planning with facility leadership and management to establish production goals and objectives and ensure completion of required tasks to meet manufacturing objectives.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12 hours per shift).
  • Climb stairs and ladders.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach.
  • Work in confined spaces when required.
  • Operate heavy equipment and power tools.
  • Perform repetitive movements.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions.
  • Exposure to loud noise levels requiring hearing protection.
  • Work in high places and confined spaces.
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals.
  • Work around moving mechanical parts.
  • Work in hot and cold temperatures.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in regular safety training.
  • Complete required safety certifications.
  • Comply with all environmental regulations.
