The Role

Working as part of the Procurement Department within Metsa Wood UK Ltd and reporting to the Head of Timber Procurement the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the purchasing of the businesses upgraded and traded Timber products and services.

Supporting a considerable spend, using a range of active suppliers, the Buyer will offer a significant contribution to the sourcing, contracting and purchasing of a wide range of Timber products to support all of our customer segments.

The successful candidate will contribute towards developing our sourcing and business objectives which support the ambitious growth plans of Metsa Wood UK.

Main Responsibilities
  • Working closely with the supply chain department to determine purchasing requirements which will be formatted and provided to the supply base.
  • Routinely source and negotiate nett purchase requirements with the supply base
  • Actively identify and build subcontracting partners for outsource requirements
  • Working with the Head of Timber Procurement to create purchase contracts
  • Monitoring active purchase contracts and supplier performance so that they are delivered on time and in full
  • Liaising with the Sales, Operations and Finance department to maintain the highest levels of customer satisfaction
  • Ensuring all purchasing is completely aligned to Metsa Wood UK Sustainability policies and targets
  • Monitor product quality, report any deviations and work with suppliers to continually develop improvements in this area.
  • Ensure the Category sourcing and purchasing process are followed and aligned Metsa Group's source-to-sign and request-to-pay processes
  • To provide market updates and reports to the wider business as required
  • Identify and evaluate potential new suppliers and products that could enhance our supply base to support the businesses long range growth plans
  • Maintain product specifications for the products
  • Contribute to the responsible profitability of Metsa Wood UK by close collaboration with the sales, operations and finance departments
  • Ensuring wider Metsa Group procurement policies and KPI's are adhered to and followed
  • Support the development of various categories to ensure business growth plans are achieved
  • Identify risks within the supply chain and develop plans to mitigate these risks
Experience
  • Purchasing experience within a complimentary product category
  • Working with multiple suppliers
  • Working within a highly sustainable environment where doing the right thing is the only choice
  • Negotiation experience
