United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospital NHS Trust (ULTH) are looking for 2 substantive Consultant in the Accident and Emergency Department at Pilgrim Hospital Boston and Lincoln County Hospital.

We are currently recruiting for substantive consultant post in Pilgrim Hospital Boston in our Emergency Medicine at United Lincolnshire Hospitals. We are looking for consultants to provide the highest quality of care to each individual patient who attends the department. The appointee will be required to work in a 1:15 on call rota with a 1:5 weekend frequency. The job plan will be aligned to a 85% DCC and 15% SPA split.

ResponsibilitiesIn addition, the appointee will be required to:
- Collaborate and work to maintain emergency medicine in line with strategic requirements
- Provide with colleagues in this specialty, routine and emergency services to the Trust Direct clinical supervision and training of the emergency department junior medical and nursing staff
- Participate in the development of emergency department treatment protocols in conjunction with specialty colleagues as appropriate
- Take the lead and responsibility for the professional supervision and appraisal of junior medical staff in conjunction with colleagues
- Participate in the training and assessment of Specialist Registrars/ST Grade doctors rotating through the department
- Maintain and develop good communication with colleagues from other specialities and the Primary Care Trust
- Demonstrate a firm commitment to the principles of clinical governance including:
- Developing and maintaining appropriate systems and practices to ensure effective clinical audit in emergency medicine
- Attending and contributing to the Trust Clinical Governance Programme
- Participate in the Trust Clinical Incident Reporting System
- Developing a programme of personal CPD within available resources and within the workload and priorities of the service.
- Encourage development of a special interest to complement those of the existing consultants in the specialty and in accordance with Trust Policies
- Develop appropriate services and techniques required to fulfil clinical needs within the available resources
Essential
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (FRCEM)
- CCT in Emergency Medicine or equivalent (or expected within 6 months of interview)
- Full GMC Registration with licence to practice
- ATLS/ETC & ALS certification
- APLS or PALS certification
Desirable
- Leadership or Teaching qualification
- Dual accreditation in PHEM/PEM
- Instructor status in advanced life support course
Essential
- Broad range of relevant experience in Emergency Medicine including emergency problems
- Experience of taking full and independent responsibility for clinical work and delivering service without direct supervision
- Previous experience of providing ED shop floor leadership and supervision
- Knowledge and ability to teach all grades of medical and clinical staff, including ACPs, paramedics, nurses, PAs and ENPs
- 6 months previous experience at Consultant Level
Essential
- Evidence of understanding of clinical governance and ability to demonstrate ongoing CPD
- Previous experience of dealing with complaints management
- Experience of dealing with morbidity and mortality meetings
Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of their CCT. CESR application must be completed and submitted.
