Job Overview – Construction Accounting Manager
Compensation: $125,000 – $150,000/year + bonus
Location: Boston, MA
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Construction Accounting Manager in Boston, MA with our client. In this hybrid role, you will manage job cost tracking, budgeting, forecasting, capital classifications, and financial reporting for construction projects. You will oversee draw processes, support REIT reporting, and work closely with Development, Project Management, and Finance. Experience with Yardi, JD Edwards, Sage 300/Timberline, or Procore Financials is strongly preferred.
Responsibilitiesas the Construction Accounting Manager:
- Project Accounting Leadership: Oversee full-cycle construction and development accounting, including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, commitments, and project closeout.
- Invoice & Cost Control: Review and approve pay applications, contractor billings, change orders, and project-related invoices while maintaining accurate job cost ledgers.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages, variance analyses, cost summaries, and stakeholder reports aligned with GAAP and REIT requirements.
- Capital & Compliance Oversight: Ensure proper capital expenditure classification, support REIT compliance, assist with audit requests, and provide documentation for lenders or external partners.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Development, Project Management, Finance, and Treasury on project schedules, draw processes, funding needs, and process improvements.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required (CPA strongly preferred).
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years in construction accounting, real estate development, or REIT accounting.
- Technical
Skills:
Advanced Excel skills required, with strong proficiency in job cost accounting systems such as Yardi, JD Edwards, Sage 300/Timberline, or Procore Financials preferred. - Industry Knowledge: Understanding of REIT structures, real estate development life cycles, capital markets, construction cost accounting, and capitalization policies.
- Skills & Attributes: Analytical, detail-oriented, and strong communicator with the ability to interpret financial data and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
