Assistant Controller

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Controller to support our client's finance and accounting operations on a temp-to-perm basis. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the FMCG sector, strong technical accounting skills, and the ability to operate in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. This role will report to the Controller and play a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining internal controls.

• Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting

• Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements and internal management reports

• Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies

• Help manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory accounting, and fixed assets

• Collaborate with the Controller on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

• Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements

• Assist with audit preparation and respond to auditor inquiries

• Support internal control processes and help identify areas for efficiency gains

• Provide financial support to cross-functional teams, including operations and supply chain

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• CPA or CPA track a plus

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the FMCG/CPG industry

• Solid understanding of GAAP, inventory, and cost accounting principles

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Net Suite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics)

• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with data analysis tools

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of meeting deadlines

• Comfortable working in a fully remote environment

• Must be available to work East Coast hours (EST)
