Inside Higher Ed is seeking an Associate Director, Construction & Project Safety, Research Compliance to lead safety processes for construction and renovation projects across Boston University Medical Campus and Boston Medical Center properties.
Position Type: Full-Time / Regular
Location: Boston, MA, United States
Salary Range: $ - $ (Grade 50)
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and oversee construction safety programs, policies, and procedures such as Pre-Construction Risk Assessments, NFPA 241 compliance, infection control risk assessments, hot work permitting, safety occupancy checklists, site inspections and incident reporting.
- Serve as the primary EHS liaison for construction and renovation projects, attending planning meetings and ensuring health and safety concerns are addressed.
- Collaborate with BU space, design, and project managers to incorporate safety requirements into design documentation and obtain sign‑off on regulatory components.
- Conduct routine site visits to verify compliance, document conditions, and manage corrective action plans.
- Maintain records of site inspections, accident and incident reports, contractor safety training, and contractor safety officer interactions.
- Review construction inspection findings, identify trends, and develop corrective action plans.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of related experience, preferably in higher education.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and experience implementing construction safety programs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to engage with contractors, designers, and EHS teams.
