Position: CONSUMER ADVOCACY VOLUNTEER

Consumer Advocacy Volunteer

Position:
Consumer Advocacy Volunteer within the Consumer Advocacy & Response Division (CARD) at the Boston office of the Public Protection & Advocacy Bureau, Attorney General’s Office.

This volunteer role supports CARD’s mission to review and advocate on behalf of Massachusetts consumers. Responsibilities include handling complaints about online or telephone scams, providing information about resources, and making external referrals using a strong network of community partners.

Primary Duties
  • Call members of the public who have filed consumer complaints about scams.
  • Identify appropriate referrals and assist callers in finding solutions.
  • Maintain clear records of calls and referrals.
  • Follow established procedures for making external referrals.

Position Requirements
  • Experience in a call‑center or public‑facing customer‑service role.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to maintain clear call records.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, or Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) is a plus.
  • Must demonstrate connection to the communities served and interest in a respectful, inclusive work environment.
