DENTAL ASSISTANT, School of Dental Medicine, Restorative Sciences/Biomaterials

The dental assistant reporting to the Patient Treatment Center Manager is an integral member of the Prosthodontic Clinical team, providing support to residents for quality dental care at Boston University School of Dental Medicine.

Responsibilities include:

• Practicing four‑handed dentistry and preparing operatories for required treatment.
• Ensuring operatories are cleaned and disinfected between patients.
• Setting up next patient and preparing instrument cassettes for sterilization according to protocol.
• Organizing and coordinating inventory of supplies to avoid shortages.
• Restocking cabinets and disinfecting the prosthodontic residents lab area.
• Taking radiographs and providing coverage during evening clinic hours.
• Displaying compassion, understanding, and empathy towards patients during treatment.
• Demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills and promoting teamwork among staff and faculty.

Qualifications and skills:

• 1–3 years of applicable work experience required.
• Formal training through an accredited dental assisting program highly desired.
• Ability to maintain dental assisting licensure and attend required CE courses.
• Required to maintain DANB certifications if applicable.
• DANB Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) Certificate preferred.
• Core skills: patient management/communication, four‑handed dentistry, instrumentation, radiography, sterilization, inventory management.
• Bilingual preferred but not required.

MON 10:30–7:00 PM; TUE–FRI 9:00–5:30 PM

Location:

Boston, MA

Salary: $20.13–$25.40 per hour (Grade 44). The final salary will be based on qualifications, experience, licenses, and internal pay comparison.
