Project: 3,000 SF Historical 3-Family Gut Renovation (East Boston)
Commitment: Part-Time (10–15 hours/week) |
Term: 1-Year Contract
We are seeking a highly driven and passionate Interior Architect to lead the creative direction and technical documentation for a significant historical gut renovation in East Boston. This project requires a sophisticated "Modern English" aesthetic—layered, traditional, and textured—achieved through smart, cost‑effective developer strategies. You will be the bridge between the owner's vision and the field execution, ensuring every square inch of the 3,000 sf floor plan is optimized for scale, function, and "high‑end rental" appeal.
Key ResponsibilitiesArchitectural Drafting: Produce and maintain highly accurate, dimensioned floor plans using Revit or Sketch Up
.Space Planning: Re-envision layouts for kitchens, bathrooms, and "winding" staircases, focusing on furniture clearance and functional flow.
Creative Direction: Develop "English Traditional" mood boards (color palettes, textures, and lighting) that feel curated and high‑end but remain budget‑conscious.
Millwork & Detailing: Design and sketch custom‑look cabinetry and trim details (inset looks, crown molding, built‑ins) that respect the building’s historical scale.
Material Sourcing: Select and spec all finishes (tile, plumbing, hardware, flooring). You must be a "Value‑Engineer" who can find the $8/sf tile that looks like $25/sf marble.
Construction Documentation: Create clear "Finish Schedules" and sketches for the trades (Plumbing, Electrical, Tile) to ensure error‑free installation.
On‑Site Coordination: Conduct periodic site visits to verify that framing and rough‑ins align with the approved design.
