Medical Director, Newborn Nursery

The Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine,

Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Newborn Nursery Medical Director to join our faculty.

Clinical activities are based at Boston Medical Center (BMC), a private, not-for-profit, 514-bed, academic medical center located in Boston's historic South End. With origins stretching back to 1864, Boston Medical Center’s mission is to provide exceptional care without exception – a commitment to care for all people, regardless of their ability to pay. Boston Medical Center is ranked as the #4 most racially inclusive hospital in the US (and #1 in Massachusetts) by the Lown Institute.

The NMD collaborates with the Chair/Chief, faculty, residency program, and BMC administration to improve performance in each of the six IOM quality domains - timeliness, safety, equity, efficiency, effectiveness, and patient-centered care.

It is expected that the NMD will, in conjunction with nursing leadership, provide oversight of the inpatient services and will support the strategic plan and goals of Boston Medical Center, the department/section, and BU Medical Group.

The NMD will be evaluated by the Chair/Chief (or designee) administrative director and BMC inpatient leadership, using performance metrics established annually, with input from faculty, BMC operational, and nursing leadership.
