The Infectious Disease Physician Assistant will provide high-quality, collaborative care within the inpatient and outpatient settings at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital. This role focuses on consultative services, patient follow-up, and continuity of care for infectious disease patients, including outpatient antimicrobial therapy management. The will report directly to the BWFH Infectious Disease Clinical Division Chief and the BWH Infectious Disease PA Manager and will supported by BWFH Director of APPs.
Key Responsibilities- Perform 1-2 new inpatient consults daily and staff with the MD on call.
- Conduct patient follow-ups and staff with the MD on call.
- Lead one outpatient clinic session per week, limited to follow-up visits.
- Manage and monitor Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) patients.
- Maintain a full-time schedule (8 hours/day, 5 days/week).
- No overnight or weekend call responsibilities.
Master's Degree Physician Assistant required.
Licenses and CredentialsMassachusetts State Physician Assistant License required.
ExperienceExperience as a licensed Physician Assistant preferred.

- Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.

Essential Functions- Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
- Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
- Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
- Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
