The Department of Dermatology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is seeking an academic medical dermatologist with interests in patient care and teaching. Our department of 17 dermatologists provides unique opportunities for medical dermatologists to practice and teach at BIDMC in the Longwood Medical Area as well as at our state‑of‑the‑art practices in Chestnut Hill and Needham.
About The DepartmentIn addition to comprehensive care in the General Dermatology clinics, the Department offers 16 subspecialty clinics and programs including atopic dermatitis, patch testing, hidradenitis suppurativa, high risk, pigmented lesions and melanoma. These clinics provide both in‑depth and multidisciplinary care for the most complex patient conditions and a sophisticated learning environment for trainees. Our cosmetic practice offers a full range of leading‑edge services utilizing lasers, radio frequency microneedling, and injectables.
An on‑site pharmacist and inpatient consult service provide crucial support to patients and faculty.
The BIDMC Dermatology research program comprises a group of researchers interested in clinical/translational research and epidemiology supported by critical core resources. All faculty are encouraged to develop projects that lead to tangible contributions and a published manuscript.
Academics and CompensationAs a major Harvard Medical School teaching hospital, BIDMC is a primary training site for the Harvard Combined Dermatology Residency Training Program and provides training for medical school students and fellows. Ideal candidates must have excellent clinical skills and a passion for teaching and working with residents. Strong interest in clinical research is strongly encouraged. The candidate must be board eligible or certified in Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology.
Appointment as an Instructor, Assistant, or Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School will be commensurate with experience, training, and achievements plus teaching activities. Suitable candidates will have an MD or an MD‑PhD and Board Certification in Dermatology. The compensation package includes an excellent base salary, an incentive program, and generous fringe benefits.
