HMS MED science seeks an experienced teacher to lead its high‑school biology‑based enrichment program and coordinate logistics for partner schools. The role supports the program’s mission to inspire a diverse generation of STEM leaders through realistic medical simulations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead Teacher – deliver interactive lectures, simulation cases, debriefs, and medical skill instruction using innovative pedagogical techniques.
- Program Coordination – manage curriculum and logistics for at least 20 partnering teachers each semester, oversee scheduling, materials, paperwork, and survey completion.
- Teacher Training – train new teachers and volunteers, conduct pre‑class meetings, observe sessions, and provide feedback.
- Curriculum Development – refine written materials, evaluate pedagogy, and support curricular and cultural competency initiatives.
- Teach 3–4 in‑person sessions daily (75 minutes/session).
- Assist with setup of simulation equipment, including lifting moderate‑weight items.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant teaching or program experience.
- College‑level understanding of biology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Prior high‑school teaching experience preferred.
- Excellent written communication and oral presentation skills.
- Strong project management and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands.
- Open‑minded, adaptable, and comfortable in a dynamic environment.
- Eagerness to learn and grow within a mission‑driven organization.
- Experience in patient‑facing healthcare roles is a plus.
- Experience or openness to lab techniques such as ELISA, PCR, gel electrophoresis.
- Ability to teach in Spanish preferred.
