The Building Based Educator is a full‑time, school‑based role designed to provide reliable instructional support while maintaining a strong and engaging learning environment for students. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Building Based Educator is a consistent presence in the school and ensures that students receive high‑quality instruction every day by providing small group instruction, advisory support and stepping in to support planned absences.
This role is ideal for educators who thrive in dynamic environments, enjoy working across teams, and are eager to make a meaningful impact on both students and staff.
- Regularly co‑teach and provide targeted support across all content areas, working alongside lead teachers to reinforce key concepts and differentiate instruction.
- Teach one daily intervention class to provide targeted academic support to students.
- Supervise 2‑3 daily duties (e.g., arrival, lunch, dismissal, hallway transitions) to ensure a safe and orderly school environment, with the flexibility to be pulled for coverage as needed.
- Follow a weekly schedule designed by the Operations team, adapting to school needs, staff absences, and known vacancies while maintaining instructional consistency for students.
- Internalize and execute lesson plans effectively, ensuring continuity of instruction when covering for an absent teacher.
- Maintain a calm, structured, and positive learning environment, reinforcing school wide expectations and fostering student engagement.
- Collect and organize student assignments, providing clear communication to lead teachers about completed work and any missed instruction.
- Monitor student performance and engagement during coverage, noting key observations and sharing feedback with lead teachers to support student progress.
- Serve as advisor for a small group of students.
- Develop strong relationships and partnerships with families through regular communication around academic and behavioral successes and challenges.
- Attending occasional family and community partnership events.
- Actively participate in professional development at the school and individual level including summer Dragon Institute, weekly professional development and individualized coaching sessions.
- Engage in a reflective process to continually strengthen teaching and learning practices.
- Perform necessary support duties including (but not limited to) coverage, bus, lunch, and dismissal duties to ensure that students learn and thrive in a safe and supportive school environment.
