Teen Leader – Hyde Park – YMCA of Greater Boston
Location: Menino YMCA
Compensation: $18.00–$20.00 per hour
DescriptionTeen Leaders are responsible for teen program/club development, supervision, recruitment and retention, and implementation of the Y’s teen programs. They foster relationships with middle and high school students at their YMCA, facilitating small group activities and modeling the Y’s character traits—responsibility, caring, honesty, and respect—while providing a safe environment for all young people.
Key Responsibilities- Help develop and implement quality programs to meet the needs of middle and high school students, ensuring that YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures are enforced and respected.
- Work with the Teen Director to set goals and review standards in the implementation of activities that foster creativity and awareness, including cultural, educational, recreational, environmental and social issues.
- Coordinate with the YMCA management team to deliver services and maintain a youth‑friendly and safe environment.
- Plan and engage teens in daily clubs based on teen interests and follow Safe for You, Safe for Us guidelines (COVID‑19 Safety Protocols).
- Maintain enrollment and participation records for Y programs.
- Ensure teens complete required training, special events and community collaborations.
- Support the Regional Teen Program Director with teen recruitment in the community.
- Attend YMCA, community, collaborative and other meetings as requested by the Regional Teen Program Director.
- Maintain and care for all program areas and supplies.
- Meet reporting and tracking requirements for collaborative programs.
- Communicate program information, problems and concerns as they arise.
- Abide by YMCA policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines; ask when in doubt.
- Remain current in required and voluntary training to promote Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.
- Job performance evaluated every 30 days by supervisor to ensure quality program delivery.
- Adhere to the Association Teen Development Agenda.
- Perform duties as requested by supervisor.
- 21+ years old.
- Youth programming experience required; teen programming experience preferred.
- CPR, First Aid and other program‑specific certifications required upon or after hire.
- Develop leadership skills in a caring, challenging & diverse working environment.
