About this opportunity

Northeastern University is a global leader in experiential learning and cooperative education, where students alternate between academic study and work experiences. The College of Arts, Media and Design (CAMD) seeks a Co‑op Coordinator Faculty member to work with its co‑op students, employers and partners. The role requires thoughtful collaboration with CAMD academic faculty and partnership with the university‑wide co‑op community.

Expectations of the Co‑Op Coordinator Faculty Role
  • Prepare students for the co‑op search and review their work experiences by advising, coaching and delivering effective teaching programs.
  • Teach co‑op related courses each semester and conduct individual career‑advising meetings with students. Course content includes interviewing skills, resume/portfolio basics, professional behavior, workplace ethics, leadership, self‑awareness and emotional intelligence.
  • Maintain contact with students during and after their co‑op experience and facilitate post‑co‑op reflection.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including alumni, parents, faculty, staff, the Office of Career Development, the Co‑op Directors, other Co‑op Faculty Coordinators and the Global Experience Office.
  • Engage in service to the Cooperative Education department, the College of Arts, Media and Design and the university‑wide co‑op community, including making presentations, participating on committees, working groups, task forces and serving as an advisor to student organizations.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities outside of the University to enhance the reputation of the co‑op program and the University.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing partnerships with employers in the fields of art, media and design to create co‑op and experiential learning opportunities for students.
  • Engage in lifelong learning to stay current on industry needs, including site visits, outreach, and participation in relevant professional organizations.
  • Partner with the CAMD Co‑Op team to develop strategy for employer engagement and continuous improvement of the Co‑Op program.
  • Leverage students’ expertise to position the University and the College as a global talent solution provider.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in college student development, counseling, education, or a related Art, Media and Design field, with a minimum of three years of professional work experience.
  • Familiarity with technology, excellent written and oral communication skills, and expertise working with a diverse staff and student population.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Team‑oriented work style, proficiency in computer/technology and database maintenance, and strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of cooperative education and its impact on individuals’ career development.
  • Ability to engage a diverse network of global stakeholders across time zones and experience working with an international student population.
  • High‑level customer orientation, strong presentation skills, and experience building and maintaining client relationships. Prior professional experience in industry is preferred.
  • Preference for candidates with expertise and interest within the creative disciplines of the college and experience teaching in higher education and experiential learning.

Pay Range

  • Assistant Co‑op Coordinator: $70,000 – $81,000
  • Associate Co‑op Coordinator: $78,000 – $89,000
  • Senior Co‑op Coordinator: $89,000 – $109,000
