After school Teacher Job Description
The After School Program (ASP) runs from 2:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., Monday through Friday. ASP teachers arrive by 2:30 p.m., set up the space, and supervise daily activities such as snack time, homework study, outdoor play, and art projects. Teachers are expected to actively engage with students, learn their names, understand their afternoon needs, monitor each student’s whereabouts at all times, and ensure their physical and emotional safety.
ASP teachers keep track of student appointments with teachers, music lessons, and sports practices.
Typical ASP Schedule
- 2:30 p.m. – Arrive and sign in
- 3:00 p.m. – Snack
- 3:15 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. – Quiet study
- 4:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. – Break
- 4:30 p.m. – Quiet time (limit on social media, computer games, watching shows, etc.)
- Continue homework
- Read
- Work quietly with another student
- Board games
- Outside play
- 5:45 p.m. – Remaining students are brought to the front desk to sit with security until parents arrive.
Students may leave the room but must tell the ASP teachers where they are going, sign out, and return after chime. Students do not need to sign out to use the bathroom but should quietly alert an ASP teacher and return promptly. Students may not leave ASP to go to the vending machine. They may watch afternoon games at the discretion of ASP teachers, though quiet study time remains mandatory.

Teachers arrive by 7:30 a.m. and go to the dining hall. Possible schedule:
- 7:30 a.m. – Students sign in, eat breakfast, study/read
- 8:55 a.m. – Dismiss students to homerooms
