The Bunker Hill Community College Performing Arts Department is seeking a dedicated and experienced Adjunct Instructor of Theatre to teach a Wednesday 10:00am-12:45pm section of THR 146:
Movement for the Actor in Spring 2026. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping students develop physical techniques that enhance performance and character work.

CourseDescription
A performance technique class, this course explores movement practices that enhance the actor's expressiveness, performance energy, and body awareness. Studio work focuses on physical exercises and processes that strengthen the body, enliven the imagination, enhance concentration, and improve agility. The body is emphasized as the instrument of communication, as students examine space, tempo, rhythm, dynamics, and sensory response. Students learn to channel their physical and emotional energy into dramatic action for character and scene work.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Deliver engaging and comprehensive instruction in actor movement, emphasizing physical expressiveness, spatial awareness, and embodied character work.
- Lead studio-based exercises and processes that build strength, flexibility, focus, and ensemble collaboration.
- Support students in connecting physical training to acting technique and performance projects.
- MA or MFA in Theatre or a related field, plus professional performance experience.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor students in a diverse and collaborative academic environment.
- Expertise in actor movement pedagogies, physical theatre, or related movement disciplines (e.g., Viewpoints, Laban, Suzuki, Lecoq, or stage combat).
- MFA in Acting or Dance.
- Significant professional performance experience, with demonstrated expertise in physical‑theatre.
- College‑level teaching experience.
- Salary: $1,397.00 per credit hour
