Schechter Boston is seeking a talented, mission‑driven Team Lead of Support and Counseling to help the school articulate and implement a comprehensive, inclusive, and student‑centered approach to academic, social‑emotional, and behavioral support. The Team Lead will supervise learning specialists and counselors across grades, coordinate the school’s multi‑tiered system of supports, and work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and families to ensure that all students experience a learning environment where they are known, supported, and able to thrive.
This is a unique leadership opportunity for an experienced educator or clinician who is eager to build strong support systems in a mission‑driven environment, strengthening both academic and social‑emotional care throughout the school. The Team Lead of Support and Counseling reports to the Director of Learning and Teaching and serves on the school’s educational leadership team. This is an academic year (10‑month) position.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Creating a unified and coherent vision for student support
—academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally—by aligning the work of learning specialists, counselors, and faculty around shared principles and practices.
Supervising and coaching learning specialists, counselors and nurses
, ensuring high‑quality instruction, effective interventions, and consistent communication across teams and divisions.
Leading the school’s multi‑tiered system of supports (MTSS) by overseeing processes for identifying student needs, designing interventions, monitoring progress, and coordinating communication with families and external service providers.
Strengthening faculty capacity to meet diverse learning and social‑emotional needs through consultation, professional development, classroom observations, and the development of shared tools and practices.
Coordinating student support plans
, including behavior plans, academic interventions, social‑emotional supports, and accommodations informed by psychological and neuropsychological evaluations.
Partnering closely with families to ensure that communication about student needs is proactive, clear, compassionate, and grounded in shared problem solving.
Ensuring strong record keeping and data‑informed decision making
, including maintaining student support documentation, progress monitoring systems, and communication logs.
Building and sustaining relationships with community‑based clinicians, agencies, and service providers to support students whose needs extend beyond what the school can directly provide.
Provide direct service to a caseload of students (learning support or counseling)
Core CompetenciesExpertise in Student Support – Deep knowledge of learning differences, mental health, social‑emotional development, and inclusive practices.
Relational Leadership – Able to partner with faculty, families, students, and administrators with warmth, clarity, and emotional intelligence.
Instructional and Clinical Insight – Ability to observe patterns, synthesize information from evaluations and classroom data, and recommend effective interventions.
Supervision & Coaching – Skilled at guiding professional practice, setting goals, giving feedback, and supporting a high‑functioning team.
Strategic Thinking – Capacity to design and refine systems of support that are sustainable, equitable, and aligned with school priorities.
