Part‑time Lecturer in Gastronomy, Metropolitan College

Boston University’s Metropolitan College is seeking a part‑time lecturer to teach Gastronomy courses (Anthropology of Food and Food and the Senses) beginning Fall 2026. Candidates are encouraged to have diverse backgrounds and inclusive syllabi. Courses will be offered on campus and online in alternating semesters, with a teaching load of two courses per semester and the option to teach up to two courses in the Summer.

Applicants must have an active research agenda in Food Studies evidenced by conference presentations and publications. The position is a two‑year contract with potential renewal.

  • Salary: $7,880 per 4‑credit course (probationary); $10,260 (post‑probationary)
  • Schedule:

    Part‑time; two courses per semester, up to two in Summer
  • Contract:

    2 years, potential renewal

Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in the related field preferred;
    Master’s degree required.
  • Prior teaching or professional experience in the discipline is a strong advantage.
