Evening Access Services Assistant, Boston College Libraries (Boston)
The Evening Access Services Assistant plays a key role in fostering a positive relationship between the library and its patrons during the evening and late‑night hours. The Assistant serves as the primary point of contact for campus police and auxiliary services during emergencies, supervises student employees, and is responsible for closing the Bapst and O’Neill Libraries according to their specified hours.
The role also includes handling Interlibrary Loan requests using the library catalog, ALMA, ILLiad, scanners, and related software, performing all circulation‑related tasks (lending, returns, holds, guest accounts), and contributing to collection maintenance projects and routine activities. The Assistant must interpret and communicate library policies clearly to ensure users receive consistent and accurate information.
SCHEDULE: 35‑hour week, 12 months per year, permanent position with full benefits.
Fall/Spring:
Sunday‑Thursday 6:15 pm to 2:15 am
Summer:
Sunday 11:00 am‑7:00 pm;
Monday‑Thursday 3:00 pm‑11:00 pm
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑based environment
- Ability to communicate with faculty, students, and staff
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Familiarity with library organization, cataloging, and classification
$40,100.00 – $50,200.00 per year
