Job Description & How to Apply Below

ERS is a national non-profit consulting firm that empowers school system leaders to make transformative shifts in resources, structures, and practices so that all students – especially those with the greatest learning needs and those furthest from opportunity – attend a school where they can learn and thrive.

At ERS, we embrace teamwork and innovation to influence sustainable, equitable change in some of the country’s largest school districts.

If you want to join a team of talented and committed professionals within a mission-driven, fast-paced organization, this is the place for you! We will invest in your professional learning, teach you the K‑12 education content you need to thrive, and support you in launching an impactful career.

The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $80,000 annually. In modeling our commitment to openness and transparency, it’s important to note that starting salaries aren’t typically at/near the top of this range. This is to create opportunities for team members to earn performance-based raises throughout their tenure in the role.
Note:
The start date for this role is September 2026.
Consulting projects at ERS

Our focus is on high-impact work within K‑12 public school districts that support a significant population of students from low‑income families. Our projects:

  • Strengthen financial sustainability by analyzing resources, forecasting budgets, and aligning spending with strategic priorities
  • Distribute resources to the highest‑need areas by implementing equitable, strategic funding and budgeting models that build capacity for effective financial decision‑making
  • Improve student and teacher experiences by analyzing staffing structures and school design models to optimize learning and enhance teacher retention
  • Facilitate learning opportunities for cohorts of state and district leaders to explore solutions to shared challenges

We develop strong relationships with the state agencies and school district partners we serve to seek understanding about student and teacher demographics, context, and needs. This individualized approach supports the creation of unique, effective strategies and solutions to influence sustainable change.

Who should apply

Graduating seniors, candidates with up to one year of related professional experience, and those with strong quantitative analytic skills interested in a career transition to education consulting.

What you’ll do

  • Break down complex, sometimes ambiguous questions into smaller pieces to inform actionable using quantitative methodologically soundmethods
  • Own clearly defined work streams and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Support senior team members in developing recommendations that drive measurable impact for K‑12 education partners
  • Support research, data analysis, and modeling to generate insights and test hypotheses
  • Actively engage and contribute to culture‑building initiatives rooted in learning and relationship‑building, including quarterly ERS weeks
  • Occasional travel for approximately 2‑4 days at a time, usually averaging less than one overnight trip per month (some project phases may require travel up to two times per month, but this is typically not sustained for more than a month or two)
What you’ll bring
  • The drive to leverage your skills in a mission‑driven organization committed to ensuring every student in every school has access to the resources they need to succeed.
